Data Validation Tool: Accelerator Deployment

The Data Validation Tool in Pricefx lets you validate data before it is sent to a partition during Accelerator deployment. The embedded Data Validation step takes the uploaded file and mapping from the previous steps and analyzes the data for issues such as null values, duplicates, and format mismatches. Validating data before deployment improves data quality and reduces support tickets caused by incorrect data.

This page covers only what is specific to the embedded Data Validation step within accelerator deployment. The embedded step uses the same four-step wizard as the standalone tool: Validations setup, Data source setup, Data mapping, and Report Overview.

For the full step-by-step procedure: selecting validation scenarios, providing files, mapping fields, and reading the report, see How to Run Data Validation Tool.
For the list of validation scenarios, see Validation Scenarios on the Data Validation Tool overview.

Navigation: During an accelerator deployment, the Data Validation step appears as a step in the deployment wizard; it is not opened from a separate menu.

In the Account area, you can open the Data Validation Tool from the left navigation under Data Tools > Data Validation Tool.

Prerequisites

  • You have access to the Pricefx Account area and the Data Validation Tool under Data Tools.

  • You have the data files required for the selected validation scenarios. Files can be up to 2 GB.

  • You are running an Accelerator deployment that includes the embedded Data Validation step.

What Is Different in Accelerator Deployment

Compared with running the tool standalone, the embedded step adds the following considerations. The scenario selection, file upload, and mapping steps themselves work the same way as in How to Run Data Validation Tool.

Large Files and Reuse

Tip: Reusing a previously uploaded file through Select from uploads avoids uploading the same large file again, which can save time for files up to 2 GB.

Review the Report and Decide How to Proceed

On the Report Overview step, the tool displays the result of the analysis. Based on the report, choose one of the following actions:

  • Continue with the deployment.

  • Correct the mapping.

  • Upload a new file with corrected data.

Warning: If there are issues in the analysis and you still want to continue with the deployment, the tool displays a warning before you proceed.

The Report Overview step shows an overall quality score and status, followed by results for each validation scenario. Each check reports its category, severity, score, and the number of violating rows out of the total. You can download the full report as a CSV file, with one row per check.

Return to the Validation Step Later

Correcting data can take time, sometimes days. You can return to the deployment step where you left off, which is usually the Data Validation step.

When you start a validation, it runs in the background and may take some time. You can leave the page and come back. Once it finishes, the Report Overview step opens with results for all validation scenarios, and you can download the full validation report.

If a deployment fails, the data files you uploaded are not deleted, so you can reuse them for a retry without uploading them again. Recently uploaded files remain available for up to 10 days.

Reupload and Rerun Behavior

If you need to reupload a file or rerun the validation, the tool retains the mappings you configured and the files you uploaded. You can reuse retained files through the Select from uploads option on the Data source setup step.

Note: A deployment ends as either successful or failed. On success, the temporary working files for that deployment are cleaned up; on failure, they are retained so the deployment can be investigated and retried. The data files you uploaded are not removed when a deployment fails.
