Project Solution Architect Program

Overview

The Project Solution Architect (SA) Program is an advanced training path designed to transform experienced Configuration Engineers into Solution Architects capable of guiding and shaping Pricefx implementations. This program blends self-study modules, structured refinement sessions, and a hands-on project to develop the holistic thinking, analytical maturity, and architectural decision-making required of an SA.

Participants work through essential topics such as requirement gathering, data readiness, product knowledge, and prescriptive delivery, culminating in a comprehensive final project that demonstrates their readiness for real-world Solution Architect responsibilities.

Access to the program is granted after successfully completing a CE Verification Test and interview, ensuring learners have the foundational skills needed to progress.

Good to Know

In order to register for Solution Architect Program:

  1. Send an email to maros.grman@pricefx.com with the subject “Solution Architect registration

    1. Provide information about your background and experience and when you would like to start the training.

  2. In the response to your email you will get possible dates for your CE Verification dates + interview (2 hours proctored session).

  3. Once you pass the test and interview you will get access to Sana and all training materials.

Access to training content, materials, and the practice environment is provided for a period of 2 months. Access is activated every Monday for students who successfully passed the interviews.

The program concludes with a final project defense, required to obtain SA certification.

Prerequisites

To enroll, learners must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Certified Configuration Engineer (certification completed within the last 4 years)

  • Configuration Engineer with 1.5+ years of experience in the role

  • Configuration Engineer who has successfully implemented at least two Pricefx capabilities

Learners who are not CE-certified must pass the CE Verification Test and an interview before starting the training.

Key Characteristics

  • Role Transition Program: Designed specifically for preparing future Solution Architects.

Effort estimation:

  • Total expected duration: 4–8 weeks, depending on learner pace and refinement scheduling.

  • Average weekly learning commitment: ~10 hours.

  • Balanced Learning Model: Mix of self-paced modules, refinement sessions, and independent work.

  • Hands-On Final Project: Significant real-world assignment demonstrating end-to-end architectural skills.

  • Instructor Support: Four 1:1 refinement/QA sessions to help learners shape their architectural decisions.

  • Outcome-Driven: Certification requires completing all deliverables and defending the solution.

Content Alignment & Improvements

The SA Program builds on Configuration Engineering experience and expands it into architecture-level competencies.

Key focus areas include:

  • Critical thinking and requirement analysis

  • Designing end-to-end solution flows

  • Data readiness and system interfaces

  • Product capability awareness and architectural trade-offs

  • Prescriptive project delivery

  • Communication and documentation standards required of an SA

This program integrates modern Pricefx delivery practices, ensuring learners are prepared for both current and future implementation methodologies.

Learning Flow

The SA Program follows a structured sequence of learning and application:

1. CE Verification Test

Before accessing SA content, learners must validate their foundational CE knowledge through a proctored test and interview (one session). This ensures readiness for architectural work.

2. Solution Architect Introduction

Learners are introduced to:

  • The SA role and expectations

  • Responsibilities in project delivery

  • Architectural thinking and decision-making frameworks

3. Advanced CE (Optional)

A refresher module for learners who want to revisit key CE concepts before progressing into architecture-level tasks.

4. Business Analyst Basics

Covers how Solution Architects work with Business Analysts and stakeholders, including:

  • Gathering requirements

  • Analyzing needs

  • Documenting functional expectations

5. Data Readiness

Teaches how to prepare and structure data for architectural solutions, including understanding:

  • Data sources

  • Data flow implications

  • Quality and readiness checkpoints

6. Product Knowledge

Provides broad functional coverage of the Pricefx product portfolio. Learners focus on:

  • Capabilities relevant to the SA role

  • Understanding how modules fit together

  • Identifying which features support which business needs

7. Standard SA Role Activities

Practical overview of how SAs operate on projects:

  • Refinement sessions

  • Solution alignment

  • Impact assessment

  • Documentation and communication

  • Collaboration with CE, IE, DSE roles

8. Prescriptive Delivery

Covers best practices for delivering projects efficiently, including:

  • Following prescriptive patterns

  • Maintaining solution quality

  • Driving alignment

  • Ensuring predictable delivery outcomes

9. Final Task (Capstone Project)

Learners apply their knowledge to a substantial hands-on project consisting of:

Deliverables

  1. End-to-End Process Diagram
A complete depiction of the business process and corresponding Pricefx solution flow.

  2. Interface Definition File (IDF)
Created using the DRM template to map external data into Pricefx.

  3. User Stories & Acceptance Criteria
Clearly written stories and ACs reflecting real project documentation standards.

  4. Refinement Sessions
Instructor-led simulations where learners refine their design and validate direction.

  5. Final Project Defense
A formal presentation and defense of the final architectural solution.

Successful defense results in certification.

Instructor Support & Q&A Sessions

Support during the program includes:

  • Four scheduled instructor-led refinement sessions

Students are expected to book their private Q&A time by reaching out to Maros and setting up time.

  • Feedback on architectural decisions and documentation

  • Guidance on final project expectations

  • Ongoing support throughout the training duration

Certification

Certification is awarded upon successful:

  • Completion of all training modules

  • Submission of all project deliverables

  • Final defense of the architectural solution

Maintaining certification requires continued architectural experience but does not currently mandate recertification every 2 years (unlike CE/IE).
