Certification Criteria for Technical Training

Purpose

This page explains how certification works for technical training and what participants must do to successfully complete and be certified.

The goal is to ensure certification criteria are:

  • Clear and easy to understand

  • Consistent across trainings

  • Documented and auditable

Scope

This applies to:

  • All technical training programs

  • Internal employees, partners, and customers (where applicable)

  • Instructor-led, hybrid and self-study trainings

Non-technical or awareness trainings are out of scope.

What Certification Means

Certification confirms that a participant:

  • Understands the technical concepts covered in the training

  • Can apply the software in practical, real-world scenarios

  • Meets the minimum competency level defined for the training

⚠️ Attendance alone does not equal certification.

Certification Requirements

To be certified, participants must meet all of the following requirements.

1. Training Participation

Participants must:

  • Attend all mandatory training sessions (if applicable)

  • Actively participate in required exercises or labs

  • Successfully implement all mandatory exercises utilizing best practices according to acceptance criteria

2. Knowledge & Skills Verification

Each technical training includes at least one verification step to validate skills.
Depending on the training, this may include:

  • Practical assignment or task

  • Technical interview or review

  • Live demo or walkthrough

  • Knowledge check or quiz (if applicable)

The verification method is defined per training program.

3. Evaluation Criteria

Participants are evaluated on their ability to:

  • Explain key technical concepts

  • Use the software correctly

  • Apply best practices

  • Justify configuration or design choices

Pass / fail criteria are defined by the training team.

4. Certification Decision

Certification is granted only when:

  • All required training activities are completed

  • All verification steps are successfully passed

  • The evaluator confirms the required competency level

If criteria are not met, remediation may be offered (e.g. re-assignment or re-evaluation).

Documentation & Tracking

For each certified participant, the following information is recorded:

  • Participant name and email

  • Training program

  • Certification date

  • Verification method

  • Result (Pass / Fail)

Records are stored in the designated learning or tracking system.

Review & Updates

Certification criteria are reviewed regularly to ensure they:

  • Match current product capabilities

  • Reflect technical expectations

  • Remain aligned with quality and audit requirements

Summary

This certification process ensures that technical software training certifications:

  • Validate real technical skills

  • Are applied consistently

  • Are transparent and auditable
