Change Chart Type

If you start to define a chart and realize that a different chart type would better suite your needs, you do not have to start again from scratch.

Click the Change Chart Type button and in the dialog that opens select a new type.

warning  Only values that can be mapped to the options in the new chart are kept. Data not supported in the new chart will be lost and additional data might be required to render properly the new chart.
See the below list for details on which options are kept when switching from one chart type to another:

  • Pie chart:

    • Generic, product, customer and dimension filters

    • Show Data Limit (only when switching to Bar & Line, Bubble, Time Series and Detailed Time Series charts)

    • Categories

    • Size

    • Sort by (only when switching to Bar & Line, Histogram, Box Plot)

    • Show Data Label (only when switching to Histogram)

    • Measures

    • Multiple series (when switching to all charts except for Histogram and Data Table)

    • Exclusion (when switching to all charts except for Histogram, Box Plot and Detailed Time Series)

    • Drill-down (when switching to all charts except for Histogram, Box Plot and Detailed Time Series) 

  • Bar & Line chart:

    • Show Data Limit (only when switching to Pie, Bubble, Time Series and Detailed Time Series charts)

    • X axis (mapped to Categories, Aggregation, X axis as applicable)

    • Y axis (mapped to Size, Aggregation, Color, Y axis as applicable)

    • Multiple series (when switching to all charts except for Histogram, Heatmap, Box Plot, Time Series and Detailed Time Series)

    • Drill-down (when switching to all charts except for Histogram, Box Plot and Detailed Time Series)

check mark  If you are not satisfied with the new chart type, you can switch back to the original one. Click the Change Chart Type button again and select the 'Previously Used' option – however this means that you will loose the settings made in this chart type. If you want to keep these settings (provided that they can be mapped to the options in the previous chart), select the previous chart type in the Similar/Other Types section.
