Creating a Partition
To create a new partition:
-
Navigate to Account > Partitions and click the Create Partition button at top right.
-
Fill in the form fields (see below) and click Submit.
You will receive an email notification once the partition is successfully created.
Settings
-
Partition Serial Name – The unique technical name of your partition (2–30 characters).
Allowed: a–z, 0–9, “_”, “-”. Avoid reserved words such as system, test, or public. -
Partition Label – A meaningful display name, for example: “My Customer> Production Partition” or “<My Customer> Prod”.
-
Description – Optional short description of the partition’s purpose.
-
Purpose – Select PoC, Demo, or another available purpose. This option is meant for external users – it limits the available instances (so that an intended QA partition is not at the PROD instance etc.).
(If your Account type in Salesfx is Admin, you’ll see more options.) -
Instance – Choose from the list of available instances. Instances are filtered automatically according to the selected purpose.
-
Currency – Select the partition’s default currency.
-
Unit of Measure (UoM) – Enter the default unit of measure used in your setup.
Modules and Users
-
In Activate Modules, select which modules you want to enable and specify the number of users for each.
-
Set the Number of admin users. One admin user is always created automatically.
-
Optionally, choose a Salesforce contact, used to identify who to contact when decisions are made about this partition. This is an optional field that is then propagated to Salesfx.
-
To send credentials to a specific person, enter an email address in Send credentials to this email. That way the partition requestor will never see the login name and password for the partition. If left empty, credentials are sent to the requestor.
-
Specify a Usage end date after which the partition ca be deleted. The information is visible only in PlatformManager, it is not propagated anywhere. Deleting does not happen automatically, there is a Pricefx team doing regular cleanups.
Non-standard Requirements (Optional)
If your setup needs special handling, expand the Non-standard Requirements section.
Pricefx Support will complete these requests for you.
-
Remote DB schema – Select this only if your partition should be hosted on a separate database.
Note: A remote schema is an external PostgreSQL database managed by Pricefx Support.
Pricefx team will confirm eligibility and take care of the JDBC connection -> you don’t need to enter any database details. -
Other requirements – Use this field to describe any additional needs.
A Helpdesk ticket will be created automatically, and Support will assist you further.
Note: Each account has a limit on how many partitions can be created. This limit is set by Pricefx administrators in Administration
